Description

It is one of our local varieties with a strong and semi-upright tree growth tendency, densely branched and thorny. There are also types known as Istanbul Akça or Thorny Akça, and its cultivation is widespread in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Central Anatolia Regions. Since it bears fruit late on pear-based seedling rootstocks, in recent years, saplings hung on quince-based clone rootstocks have been preferred. The fruit is medium-sized, conical, and the fruit peel is yellow on a green background. The flesh is greenish white, juicy, sweet, crisp, fragrant and slightly sandy. It is harvested in mid-June in the Aegean, and in the end of June and the first week of July in the Marmara. Its pollinators are Dr. J. Guyot, Williams, Passe Crassane, Mustafa Bey.
